480 Area Code: Scottsdale's Number in the East Valley

480 was introduced in 1999 as Phoenix's original 602 area code split further to serve its booming East Valley suburbs, including Scottsdale, Tempe, and Chandler.

480 launched in 1999 covering the East Valley suburbs of metro Phoenix. It has since become one of the most recognized codes in the region thanks to Scottsdale's upscale resort and business reputation.

Why Businesses Choose 480

• Semiconductor manufacturing hub: with Intel operating major facilities in Chandler, 480 carries strong tech-manufacturing credibility
• Retirement and healthcare economy: the East Valley's large retiree population supports a substantial healthcare and wellness business sector

Old Town Scottsdale anchors tourism, hospitality, and retail, while Tempe (home to Arizona State University) and Chandler add a fast-growing tech, semiconductor, and startup economy.
